First Day of School

I thought about the movie Finding Nemo as my son was getting ready for school Monday. Nemo's dad prepares to take his son to school as Nemo shouts "First day of school, First day of school." The dad is just a little nervous about sending his son to school this year, maybe he can start the next. Nemo was so excited about starting school, he was swimming around in circles. Of course many of you know what happens in the movie, Nemo does not obey his dad gets taken and in the end are reunited.
So, as I prepared him for his first day of school, was I like Nemo's father, overprotective, wishing I had just one more year. What do you think? NO WAY! I know that sounds bad. I was a little scared for him, but my son is so independent, I knew he would be OK. Now, many know how high strung (putting it lightly) my child is, my thoughts were "Am I going to get a phone call the first day, bad reports?" As I went through some of my daily chores the phone did ring, but not one from the school.
Anyway, back to when I dropped him off, I went down a rabbit trail. He did not want me to go in with him, I actually had to do the begging in order to walk in with him. He said he could walk in by himself, he did not need me. Then I realized how big he was getting and he wanted to face some challenges on his own. Or, he was just embarrassed by me already. I convinced him that other parents were walking in their kids and it would be nice if he would let me walk him in as well. So, he finally agreed and we went in. We set his things at his desk, I got ready to go and asked him for a kiss and a hug, what was I thinking? He, of course said NO! That it would embarrass other kids. I just left and went home.
I went and picked him up and when we got home we talked about his day. I guess I am always asking "What did you do?" A question that is often asked in my home to find out what Bryce has gotten in to, done to his brother and so on. The answer I got was:
"I did not hold on to the rope two times and I would not pay attention to the music, so the teacher made me lay my head on my desk, because I would not listen to her." What I really was asking was what did he do at school. He said, they played, took a nap, and the teacher read a book to them.
The teacher sends a notebook home daily to let us know how well they are doing, he received a ranger face, basically a happy face with a hat on. This face means "BEST". He did let us know that two girls came up to him and asked if he would be their friend.
That was his first day.

Meet the teacher

Yesterday we had meet the teacher day. I would of written about it at that time, but I had one of my migraine's.

Bryce's teacher's name is Celia Adame. She was very nice, you could tell she was nervous though, her voice was quivering as she went through some of the rules for her classroom and the school. I believe there are about 18 kids in his class, will have to find out. They sit with three desks facing eachother. So, Bryce has a girl and a boy sitting with him or next to him, each of them at their own desk. Bryce did not talk to anyone next to him, he kept to himself.

I know it was not the first day of school, but I did almost choke up, it might have been the migraine some, I was in pain while we were listening to the teacher. OK, mostly it was because my baby is starting school.

Bryce's and Wyatt's stay with Bia

We took the boys to the park while the boys were staying with Bia. I had gone back on a Friday to pick them up. So about 8:00 in the evening we headed over.

Wyatt does not like sliding down the slide as much as he likes climbing up the slide. Thanks to his big brother for teaching him this little trick.

Yes, it looks like my son has some awful rash, but don't worry, he has been playing hard in the sun and his face is just red.
Bryce is learning to cross the monkey bars, at one time he was scared of them.
Bryce and Wyatt are taking a ride on Myrt Myrt's new pony.

Corpus Christi

More Vacation:

Monday July 30,2007

We, along with my mom, got up early Monday morning to make our way to Corpus Christi. My children, along with Cody, have never been. Our first stop was the Texas State Aquarium. The kids loved it and so did the adults. We visited the dolphins first and saw the training show. Bryce really liked it, but Wyatt was too busy trying to go from grandma to momma to daddy. However, when we went down to the bottom floor to see the dolphins down below, Wyatt could not keep his eyes off of them.

Our next stop, the bird show. I was able to sit down and watch just a few minutes of it, with a one year old in tow, well you know. Bryce was entertained, he really enjoyed all of the birds. I could not tell you what birds he saw, because I had to take Wyatt out so he could wander around the crocodile den. I was amazed though, when Wyatt was tired he would climb right back into his stroller to relax. We then strolled over to the stingrays. Bryce would not pet them at all, he acted like he wanted to, but wouldn't. The stingrays would swim up and let us pet them, it was cool.

We were at the aquarium for about two hours and we were all getting hungry. My mom took us over to Fisherman's. I remember as a child that this restaurant used to have wild animals in it. But, it caught on fire and they did not replace the animals. Our next stop, the beach...
*Sorry was using a throw away camera at home, left my digital at my house, so my thumb is in the way on some pics.

Super Bia

Last week I had somewhat of a vacation, the boys were gone, and I was even able to get rid of my husband for the week, HURRAY! The boys went to stay the week with their Bia, before she has to return to her favorite spot, WORK. During the day she did not have two boys but three. Sharon was keeping Clayton for a couple of weeks so Dashielle and Clint could make their way to Crane, at least Clint anyway. So, Beverly was keeping Clayton during the week also. She would have a very hyperactive 5 year old running around along with two curious little 1 year olds. She is braver than I am, I would have thrown in the towel. She even ventured out into the worlk, her favorite place of course Wal-Mart, with all three boys in tow.
I, on the other hand, had a list of chores to do, which only half of them got done. I enjoyed so much of the peace and quiet, I thought "movie time". I did get my office organized. My main goal was office and boys room, did not happen. My week went by fast, I stayed at my in-law's home Monday night to drop off the boys and left around noon Tuesday. Thursday, I stayed the night with Linsey and left Friday to stay the night at my in-law's home and left Saturday. All in all, that did not give me enough time to get what I needed done.
While I was at Linsey she was trying to teach me the art of taking my own picture. I am not very photogenic at all. If these pictures scare you, please look away.

Registered for school

The big day is getting close. Bryce will be starting kindergarten on August 27th. So, today we took him to register for that big day. I don't think he is looking forward to it, but I believe that when he sees all the kids entering the school, he will have a change of heart. I let him pick out his back pack, which is the black spiderman. His Bia bought him a spiderman lunch box. I just need to get some more of the school supplies, I did not have an accurate list to go by. Thought never crossed my mind to check out the school website for the correct supply list.
The big question now is, I wonder if I will cry his first day at his new school?

Vacation

The Hathorn's went on their first "real" family vacation. It was not a long trip, at all. We left on a Saturday moring and returned Thursday morning. Our schedule for the week as follow:

Saturday: My Mom's birthday party
Sunday: Visited our old church, San Pedro Church of Christ
Monday: Corpus Christi to do a little sight seeing. Went to Texas State Aquarium and the beach.
Tuesday: Great Grandparents day
Wednesday: Camping

So, as you can see we had our vacation all mapped out and the days were going to be long and crazy, especially with two kids and one cranky man tagging along, just kidding.

We departed from the house Saturday around 7:00, of course we had to stop and get gas and run into the famous Wal-Mart to get some tie-downs. I was put in charge of driving, because Cody had worked nightshift. Anyway, we get between Big Lake and Ozona (still West Texas) and I was day dreaming, don't know why not much to look at around there. First turn comes up, what do I do? I take it, no big deal, it will not be long until we get to Ozona and I can pee. Just driving along and I notice there are so many hills, and our poor old van is heaving just to make it up those steep hills. I think to myself "what pretty scenery, I don't remember all these steep hills, hmmm", of course I keep driving, again no big deal. I finally get to a sign, by the way I have not seen one the whole time I have been driving. The signs says "Iraan, 5 miles", WHAT! I know, I know, how did I not know that I was going WEST instead of SOUTH. Like I said, I was day dreaming, it was early, need I say more, think not. What was supposed to be a 6 hour or 7 hour drive, turned out to be a 9 hour drive. All because I went close to 100 miles out of the way. OUCH, talk about wasting gas. Cody took over the driver seat in Sonora.

More vacation stories to come and pics.

CRY BABY

I don't exactly remember why Wyatt is crying. It could be one of the times that I was pretending to cry over something. Well, I did not know that my little one was going to take it so hard. He does not like to see his mother cry. He is such a momma's boy!

Don't worry, he did not cry for long, I quickly stopped pretending that I was crying and he was happy again.
